"Black Rock" Beauty - Suburb Profile

Red Bluff Cliffs

Looking for a family-friendly suburb, along with a healthy lifestyle by the beach? You've come to the right place! The Astute Buyers Advocate team visited Black Rock last weekend on a perfect sunny day.

And what a day it was! We attended 2 auctions. Hunter Avenue was passed in on the day, but later sold. And Tandara Court was sold at Auction. We also visited an open for inspection in Love Street, that is up for auction at the end of March.

Distance to CBD

Black Rock is a beautiful beach side suburb. Located well above sea-level on the Red Bluff Cliffs, there are a lot of properties in Black Rock that are blessed with a glimpse or a great view of the ocean. There is somewhat of a country vibe in Black Rock. As you walk through the gum-tree lined streets there is an abundance of bird-life and Australian nature that give it that country feel.

The Suburb was named after Black Rock House, a residence built by Charles Ebden between 1856-1858. It is said that Black Rock House was a social rendezvous for Melbourne's elite!

Black Rock House

Black Rock house today is open for tours on the first Sunday of every month. It also puts on a local market during the warmer months on every first Sunday, which supports creative minds from the local community. It is well known that Black Rock has a great community feel.

There is a great mix of properties in Black Rock, but the majority of properties for sale are family homes. The median house price for a 3 bedroom home in Black Rock is $1,980,000. Driving along Beach Road you can see the standard of these stunning mansions overlooking Port Phillip Bay.

Coffee & Food

Between auctions, we stopped off at a local cafe for a coffee break. Cafeteria is a busy corner cafe, which boasts lovely coffee and some of the friendliest staff we've ever met. You could see there was a great relationship between the staff and the locals. Once again this cemented that already known community feel of Black Rock.

Lunch was enjoyed at Full Tank! We indulged in a salad and spaghetti marinara. Would you believe we were too hungry to remember to take a picture?! The food was amazing, and we have actually been back since for take away!
